On to month two and the W's keep rolling in! I AM vs I AM in a Championship... LOVE IT!
12 BOYS
This past Sunday our U12 Boys team placed 2nd overall in the Boys Jr’s February Fun tournament at the Rec Plex in Pleasant Prairie! Entering the day we were the 3rd seed in the tournament to which the boys responded by rallying together, consistently improving, and showcasing that they were better than that original ranking!
After falling to the top ranked and undefeated BVA - Lions Elite in our first match (15-25, 12-25) the boys went on to defeat both RVA - Navy (23-25, 25-21, 15-13) and Southport - Blue (25-9, 16-25, 15-12) in their first two 3-set matches of the season! The boys showed incredible drive and mental toughness in securing these wild Ws and we couldn’t be prouder of them as it earned us a rematch opportunity and a spot in the championship match against BVA - Lions Elite!
While we would eventually fall in the championship match (21-25, 18-25), we would be the only team to put up over 20+ points against BVA on the day and it was also a significant improvement to the first match of the day as we were able to score a total of 12 more points against them!
As a team, we totaled 34 aces on the day serving just over 80% in our 4 matches! 10 of those aces came from #33 Charlie Corcoran, while #22 Beckett Krier totaled 5 of the team’s 12 total aces in just one single set against Southport - Blue. Another shoutout goes to #10 Rory Waldron who ended the day with 6 total kills and 2 blocks.
Up next, the boys will be competing in their first two-day tournament at the JVA MKE Jamboree on Feb. 10th & 11th located at the Wisconsin Center in downtown Milwaukee. The boys are eager for their next chance to compete with other high level teams and we can’t wait to see how they do!
14 BLACK | 1st Place
This weekend 14 Black was up in Green Bay for Bay Bash. They played fantastic once again, coming out as champions!!
We played 5 games on Sunday and dominated every game. The girls served very well with 3 serving pins being handed out. They worked really hard to minimize their mistakes and put the pressure on the other teams to make the mistakes.
The championship game came down to us and IAM 14 white. IAM 14 white pushed us to perfect our skills and be more focused on what we need to do better at to win. The girls faced tougher servers in this game and realized they don’t need a perfect pass all the time, just a good pass high enough for our setters to be able to work with. Shout out to Brianna Krause and Lydia Ennis in this game. They both did fantastic in the front row and were our main scorers that game. Lastly shout out to Lexi Beckhaus for the winning kill!
The girls continue to impress me and I am excited to get back to power league next weekend.
14 WHITE | 2nd Place
14 White took a drive up to Green Bay and played in the Bay Bash on Sunday. It was an early morning, but that did not stop the girls! The girls played great and won 25-11 and 25-16 in the first match. The second game was more of a fight, as we lost the first set 21-25, but had a great comeback with a 25-14 win in the second set and securing the win with a 15-13 score in the third. The girls absolutely dominated the next game, winning 25-11 and 25-10. This win allowed us to win our pool, and head to the gold bracket! There was a bit of a break afterward, but that did not stop the girls from dominating once again and won 25-10 and 25-12. After that fourth match, it was time to head into the championship match. We went head-to-head with our very own, 14 Black, and the long day caught up to the girls and we lost 25-17 and 25-13. The girls played so well, and it was so fun to watch them play. Malia and Gianna tied with a total of 15 kills each, Josie had 17 block touches/blocks, and Kennedy had a total of 14 aces! We gave out two serve pins to Kennedy and Malia, as well as two overpass kill pins to Kennedy and Lania.
#Shoutout to Harlow who stepped up and played setter all the way around, all day! Our second setter was sick and could not make it, but Harlow pushed hard and played super well.
AND....
#Shoutout to Gianna for getting tournament MVP, she killed it all day!
