Our very own Coach Braedy received the Badger Region U15/16 Coach of the year award! We are extremely proud of his accomplishments in his time with I AM. He brought us our first Badger Region Championship with the U12 in 2016. He helps with our skill camps every summer, and he is always looking for new ways to motivate his players to become the best player they can be!
The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) is proud to announce the inaugural AVCA Region Affiliate Partner Program (RAPP) Club Awards. Four of the 12 club regions that are affiliate partners elected to name awards honoring the top coaches in their region (each region had their own discretion on which awards to select). The honorees were then put forward for consideration for the national AVCA Club Awards.
What was your favorite thing about this year’s club team/season?
I look for players with good ability and good attitudes. Sometimes these may not be the best players… yet. My favorite thing in coaching club this year was forming a player that may not have been given the attention they deserve in the school year, or finding a “green” player, and making them stand out or molding them into a player and a teammate that exceeds what they thought they could be.
Additional Comments
I believe that coaching, as well as playing, is a series of failures that you learn from to make you a better person/player/coach. If you are not failing, you are not pushing yourself hard enough. At the end of this year I asked my team to take what we have learned on the court and use it in your everyday life. As you can imagine, they looked at me with confusion. I explained that each one of them walked off the court this year with: more confidence, leadership skills, ability to perform in pressure situations, friendships, and cooperation. These are the qualities that we build - these young ladies will need and use these qualities throughout their lives both on and off the court.
