Tournament Recaps 1/2-3/21

Our kick-off weekend for the 2021 season is here! Here is how our teams did.

13 BLACK

The 13s black were very nervous and excited to be back on the court this weekend! We played 2 different 360 teams, and started off struggling with serve consistency, but it turns out we were just warming up for our matches against the 2 other Block Party teams, where we finished the day with great passing and amazing serving.

#Shoutout to Ava, Sydney, and Katie for their serving runs in our last game!

All the girls hustled and it was great to see the team spend some off the court time together, as well.

13 RED

The 13’s Red team went 3-2 at their first tournament. Once they became confident with their rotations, they had some great setups to win some crucial points in close games! Every player focused on serving tough by getting float on their serve and serving deep. They had SO MANY aces as a team!!

#Shoutout to Emmy for playing as the team’s Libero on Saturday then switching to being an Outside Hitter on Sunday and crushing it at both positions with a great attitude!!

Keep your eye out for this team, because their quick progress is already paying off!!!

15 BLACK

In our first tournament of the season, these girls dominated the court from beginning to end. They were so excited to play and did a great job communicating and executing plays. We finished 3-1 to end the day, our only loss was a very close match where both both sets were neck and neck!

#Shoutout to Jade for running a 5-1 setting the entire day when we really haven’t had a chance to practice any kind of rotation.

16 BLACK

The 16Black team kicked off their season in great fashion (shout out to the envy we produced with our LuLu threads!) this past weekend at the Prep Dig Resolution in Appleton. We played every team close and showed an incredible grit and never gave in vs any team.

We started to gel and played our best volleyball in the last match against a very tough national Fox Cities Elite team. Many fantastic individual efforts resulted in great team play this weekend as everyone stepped into whatever role needed and contributed to the team’s success.

#Shoutout to our defense and serve receive was solid throughout the weekend thanks to Macey and EJ!

Our blocking really picked up led by Maddie, Natalie, and Anna and our offense was paced on the outside by Grace and Maddie K. Lily and Molly pitched in a couple different roles and our setters Ava and Becca were great in spreading the ball around and generally running the show.

#ShoutOut to Natalie Fernald for her fantastic Brazilian foot set in the mad scramble in the final game!

The whole team should be incredibly proud of the showing and their never say die attitude. WOW! I’m incredibly excited for the season!

17 WHITE

We played at the Just-a-Game facility in Wisconsin Dells. We went 3-1 on the day and were beat in 3 games by an 18s team in the semi-finals. I love the effort I saw in my team. We had a lot of fun and this is proof of why we play this game! Of course we need to polish up on many different skills, but should be proud of the third place finish in the gold division for our first tournament! I look forward to playing in our next tournament in Appleton next week. Keep up the positive attitudes, as winning comes with it.

17 RED

We had our debut tournament and started the season off with a dominating win! We moved

on to play a talented FC Elite team and we went 3 with them but fell short at the end. We won the next 3 matches for the weekend! Included in those final wins was an amzing comback in game 1 against Impact Volleyball Club. Down 4-13, the girls turned up the heat and inched out a win 26-24!

Big #Shoutout to Kelsey for playing a solid tournament and make some amazing sets to get our hitters open and for big service runs!

We head back to Appleton to start the Badger Power League!

18 RED

18 Red played at Prep Dig Resolution Tournament this past weekend. The tournament started off a little rough as we tried to get our feet under us during the first match. After that loss, our play improved the rest of the day. The team won their second match in 3 sets and despite a tough loss, fought the hardest in their final match for the day. We showed up on Sunday performing better than the previous day, doing a lot better where we had struggled previously. Unfortunately, we were unable to string together many runs throughout the day, leading to two close defeats, one of which was 13-15 in the third. Despite some parts of the game giving us some trouble, the team (especially our pin hitting!) showed flashes of excellence as the weekend went on. I’m proud of how quickly the girls progressed both as individual athletes and as a team and I’m looking forward to seeing this squad realize their potential!
