Our two 12's teams competed first this season! See how they played last weekend!
12 RED
This weekend the 12 Red team opened their tournament season at the 414 Giant Slide Joust! With it being an early tournament, we were excited to work on running a new 6-2 rotation and get the girls comfortable before getting into the thick of the season!
We started out play against 414 and dominated with our tough serving, earning us our first win of the season!
#Shoutout to Ella and Nora for getting their serving pins by getting at least 5 aces each in a single match!
Next, we played a talented Burlington Elite Team which was a tough pool play loss but showed us areas that we can improve on. We finished our day in the Silver Bracket and earned two straight wins against Southwest and 360 to finish as the silver champions! We are extremely proud of how quickly the team adapted to using the new 6-2 lineup in game play and got better with every match.
#Shoutout to Brooke for being the MVP of this tournament as she showed extreme hustle and leadership in the back row, not letting a ball hit the floor without diving to save it!
There were many moments of greatness in this first tournament which makes us super excited to get back to practices and prepare for our next tournament!
12 BLACK
This past weekend we started out the new year at the 414 Giant Slide Joust in West Allis, WI. The girls worked hard the past couple weeks to gear up for this exciting weekend! We focused on learning rotations, working hard to get three touches on the ball, and bringing our positive attitudes at all times.
We started off our Sunday playing the 8:30am match in Pool A against 414 Blue. We put up a good fight for our first ever match, but ended up losing Set 1 25-19 and Set 2 30-28. The girls brought back the fire immediately in our next match! We won against Oak Creek K-Force 12 Blue Set 1, 25-14, and Set 2, 25-23 concluding our morning pool play. #Shoutout to Izzie for racking up 11 aces against Oak Creek! And another #Shoutout to Lexi for serving up 7 aces against 414!
Without much of a break, our bracket play started soon after at 11:30am. We placed in the silver bracket and to say we fought hard was an understatement. Unfortunately, 360VA 12-1 took the first match 25-22 and 26-24. However, the girls’ positive attitudes continued to roll over into our final match for the day. SWVBC 12 Blue made us work hard during set 1, but we took the lead winning 27-25. SWVBC ended up coming back and winning the second set 27-25. This next third set was a big opportunity for 12 Black. They had the chance to redeem themselves by keeping up their energy through a long day and never giving up on a ball. And they did exactly that! Armella lead us right off the bat with 5 aces! They came together as a team to win the 3 set match 15-9!
12 Black ended the weekend 2-2. Karalyn and Anna are so proud of the girls for their fighting spirit and relentless effort to never give up! We can’t wait to see the girls in action at our next tournament in a few weekends. Keep up the good work 12 Black!
#Shoutout to Sierra for winning our Team MVP! Sierra was a positive role model to her teammates and worked well under pressure trying out setting for the first time!
Congrats to our first two Tournament MVP recipients, Brooke (12 Red) and Sierra (12 Black)
