11 RED
The 11 Red team was excited to show off all of the hard work they have been putting in at practices last weekend at the Frisco Mo 11's tournament at the Sting Center.
I AM 11 Red played smart and confident on day one never letting up on their opponents with consistently aggressive serves. They won all 3 matches against Sting Silver, Sting 10's. and Burlington 11's with only one opponent scoring more than 15 points in one set. Lucy, Gigi, Mia, Lexi, and Abby all achieved serving pins while serving over 84% for the day.
The 11 Red team was excited for day 2 on Sunday. Their first match of the day was against Sting White. I AM got off to slow starts and played a little timid in the beginning of both games. They however played their best ball at the end of the game in both sets winning 25-23 and 25-23.
In the Semi-finals, I AM 11 Red came against RVA 11's. RVA came out with a bullet server and took a large 8 point lead. The girls didn't panic and sided out on that server's 1st serve the next two times, but that wasn't enough and they lost 17-25. I AM then decided to provide some service pressure of their own and ended up crushing RVA 25-10. In the 3rd game, RVA came out strong and was up 6-4, however I AM just continued to stay focussed with their next play mentality and consistently sided out. Then, when they got hot, they got hot and beat RVA 15-8.
In the Championship match, against Midwest Penguins, I AM showed no mercy. They served aggressively however missed quite a few serves in game one. I AM did an exceptional job of passing and getting a great attack for the side out. Serving at game point, I AM received a freeball and a perfect pass and set and GIGI crushed the hardest swing of the day for the game one victory 25-20. In game 2, I AM continued with its aggressive play and never fell behind. Awesome hits by Isla, Lucy showed our dominance above the net! A great serve by Abby and an overpass Kill by Lexi sealed the victory as I AM 11 Red became champions of Frisco Mo!
A few more serving pins on day 2 is not a surprise for this team. We are great at serving. What impressed most of the spectators was how aggressive our team was. We did a great job of jumping and attacking above the net this weekend. As a Coach, I was super impressed with their shot selection. The girls did a great job of making the right shot based on the set. This is something we talk about and I was super excited to see it executed this weekend!
Way to "BET" (Believe, Encourage and Trust) each other ladies. That gives us the freedom to be our best!
12 BLACK
Our team had a weekend full of valuable lessons as we wrapped up the tournament with a 2-4 record. Despite some tough matches, the team showed grit and determination that we’ll carry into our next competition.
Match 1: A challenging opener against Madtown resulted in a loss as we worked to find our rhythm.
Match 2: We regrouped and secured a solid win over MWP.
Match 3: A tightly contested match against 12 White that went to three sets but ended in a loss.
Match 4: Faced with a tough opponent, we struggled to execute under pressure and dropped the match, but the team never stopped communicating and hustling against Sting 12 White.
Match 5: Another matchup against 12 White in bracket play, but they took another win to get to the semi finals.
Match 6: Finished with a W - we controlled the ball on our side of the net to finish out the weekend with a win against FDL Fusion.
#overkillpass pins were earned by Olivia and Aalysah
#tournamentmvp was Lauren, who hustled in her position as setter
Though the weekend didn’t end with the record we hoped for, it was great to see some smiles shine through off the court. This team has great chemistry, so we are eager to push forward for the next tournament.
14 WHITE
14 White battled through the Frisco Mo Volleypalooza tournament that included 5 grueling matches on Sunday to finish 6-2 for the weekend and in 7th place out of 27 teams. The weekend started by adding three more match victories to the six match winning streak from BRPL. All three matches were won in two sets and opponents reached the 20 point mark. Sunday started with a win over club counterparts I AM 14 Gold and pushed the streak to ten matches in a row all in straight sets. That is as far as the streak would get as 14 white suffered its first loss since December 21st dropping a close one to McHenry Jrs 14-1s 26-24, 23-25, 9-15. We would bounce back with a win over Adversity 14-1s 25-22, 25-19 before falling in another 3rd set battle against Milwaukee Jrs 14-Premeir 19-25, 25-19, 9-15. The marathon day ended on a high note with 14 White knocking off 360VA 14-1s 25-14, 25-16. Our tough serving, consistent serve receive and excellent ball control continue to keep us winning games or at least being competitive with every opponent. We continue to rack up aces with well over 30 more! Lots of serving pins and a handful of overpass kill pins were handed out. A special shout out to tournament MVP Dani Williquette for her presence at the net, timely serving run to win a set, and her nonstop energy she brings to the court and sideline. Special shout outs to Alaina Friend for matching Dani's energy, Hayden Rech for playing all the way around all day Saturday, and Brianna Miller for jumping in the front row and crushing it during our last match. 14 White season totals move to 14-4 in matches and a whopping 30-8 in sets!
15 WHITE
What a weekend! 15 White took first this weekend up in Menasha after an exciting championship match! The girls started out the day 3-0 in their pool advancing them straight to the championship game. Shoutout to Sydney and Emmy for being flexible and jumping in to play middle for the day since we were down a few girls for the weekend! The championship game was a nail biter taking Heat 15 to 3 sets winning the last set 18-16 after a comeback of being down 12-14! Between Armella’s great defense and Lydia’s smart shots, they were key contributors this weekend! Also shoutout to Izzie for her under pressure serving that allowed us to keep playing in the 3rd set! These girls were able to lean on each other when it got tough especially during that 3rd set. So proud of these girls for fighting all the way to the end!
